Obituary of Aileen Mary Brown

On November 26, 2016 our Mom/Gram, Aileen Mary Brown (nee Detenbeck) died peacefully at the age of 103. She led a remarkable life which included marriage to the "perfect man", raising her three children, working as a dietitian at K-W Hospital, singing in the Highland Baptist Church choir, travelling, gardening, and enjoying "1 ounce" martinis with her many dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Doug and her son, Peter as well as her brothers Bill and Bob, and sister Pat. She leaves behind family and friends who will forever be grateful to have known her. She is missed dearly by her daughters Patti Stevenson (Bob Thompson) and Laurie Dart (Colin), her sister-in-law, Sue Detenbeck, her grandchildren, Chris Brown (Sara Botsford), Whitney Brown,Jennifer Stevenson (Bob Soames), Amy Richards (Craig), Andrea Dart (Neil Wiancko), and Beth Dart, her daughter-in-law Heather Whitehead, niece Debbie Tuttle and her children, Meghan, Jessie, and Josh, her dear friends Rita Brown, Daintry Snyder, and Marilyn Harder, and her four great-grandchildren, Lowell, Owen Avery and Mia. Aileen was an example to us all of an independent, tenacious, intelligent and resilient woman. She encouraged these qualities in her children and grandchildren who also will miss their "Glamma's" quick wit, fashion sense and sense of tradition. She had friends of all ages and affiliations and loved meeting new people. According to Aileen's wishes, a memorial service will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 135 Highland Rd.
