Obituary of Paula Ann Scheifele

After a two year courageous battle with cancer and other related illnesses, Paula peacefully released her beautiful soul from her equally beautiful body to her heavenly Saviour on December 5, 2016, 8 days short of her 74th birthday. She was surrounded by the four men in her life as well as many members of her extended family. Paula is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years Bruce, her children Steven (Angela Starkes-Hutchings) of Kitchener, Scott (Stephanie Wunder) of Conestogo, and Mark (Kelly Schroeder) of Waterloo. Forever remembered affectionately as “Nanny” to her cherished grandchildren Brooke, Eric, Jacob, Sarah, Joseph, Ella, Jack, and Tessa. Paula is also survived by her sister Wendy Payne and her adopted sister, Joy Becker. She is predeceased by her parents, Lorne and Eileen (nee Schildroth) Schweitzer. Paula was born and raised in Kitchener and attended Sheppard Avenue and Margaret Avenue public schools. She graduated in 1960 with First Class Honours from KCI where she was also a member of the “Big 10”. Paula started her career in the accounting business with Davis, Dunn, and Broughton/Clarskson Gordon, retiring in 1971 to raise her three beloved boys. Paula spent many summers with her boys at their treasured cottage “Windrock” on Channel Island in Georgian Bay, returning to work in 1981 with Roth Bauer and later, the Pinnacle Group. She was a chartered member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Paula had a keen interest in the Royal Family and like them, loved to have things prim and proper. She took great care of her home, her cottage, her family, and herself. She will be sadly missed by so many. Paula spent her last weeks at Sunnyside Evergreen, cared for by their excellent staff. To all the nurses, especially her personal Angel, who could make her smile even at the end, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Friends are invited to share their memories of Paula with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service, followed by reception will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 700 Glen Forrest Blvd, Waterloo on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 am.
