Hello - I worked with Alan at NovAtel for several years. I remember going to his office with one question and ending up chatting for an hour - everything from solving the problems of the world, to how much he was looking forward to summers at the cabin in Ontario.
I will miss him.

Sue - Just got the news from Michael Clayton.
We're so sorry - you two had really only just the retirement gig working. It was great to see Alan on Skype from your Mexico beach house - it only seems like a couple of years ago now, but probably much longer.
Alan & I enjoyed our time together on the road fighting the good fight together, zipping through speed cameras in Northern Holland and UK while we laughed at each other and the situation we currently got ourselves into - that's probably what I remember and have missed most since we split up the team. We knew each other so well that we could help each other think through to a solution almost all the time. Learning how to be insulted by our Italian partner and live through it was just one of the skills Alan taught me. I'm happy to say that over our time together a lot of Alan brushed off on me & is still with me.
We're thinking of you as you absorb this and live through things. So very, very sorry!
Tony & Anne

I fell in love with Al Wahl the first time I saw him pulling his kids on a sled with a coffee in hand. As I looked out my front window, I thought to myself "What a great Dad". Dennis & I feel so fortunate that we have been in the Wahl family eclipse for thirty plus years, and some of our most fond memories involve our Boston escapades as comrades in a foreign land.
Al was a world-class thinker, diplomat and independent analyst of the global situation. His understanding of cultural mores and ability to read any situation was uncanny. I will miss his wry wit, his silly side and our political discussions. He was patient and kind, elegant and sophisticated.
He truly knew how to savor every moment better than anyone I've ever met. He was the master of not taking any day for granted. He loved his beautiful wife and wonderful children and grandson, extended family and friends. I treasure every minute we spent together.
Sue, Michael, Sarah, Lauren & Ben, we will be thinking of you in the next days and keeping you in our hearts and prayers.
With love,
Suzette & Dennis Cahill

No words can possibly convey the shock and sadness over the passing of your beloved husband/father/papa, Al. Al was such a pillar in not only your lives but also in many of the lives that he gently touched in his quiet but benevolent manner.
We will always be thankful for having been accepted into your family with such open arms and having spent the last decade as part of your family during wonderful weekends in your Sauble Beach home. Our memories of Al will be cherished always and will live on with each wonderful sunset.
We love you all and hope that the grace of God will be with each of you today, tomorrow, and each day ahead.

We are all so very sorry for this sad news. It is difficult to really absorb this unforeseeable development in Al's condition. I think we all thought he was doing so well in the last year.
I will certainly be praying for your strength and acceptance of Al's passing.
I believe you are a strong woman, Sue, and I will be praying that Mike and Sarah will gain strength from your example.
You all have such wonderfully strong family memories, and that is a beautiful bonus.
