My father met first met Tudor at the start of their time at medical school in Cardiff. Tudor's father had a friend who was head of Prudential Insurance for Wales, he used his network of agents to help find 'digs' (half board accommodation) for both young men. So Tudor and Gwyn were provided with a single bed, their laundry and two meals a day for £2.50/week. Dad recalled them both marching home late down the Splott Road late in the evenings. Tudor had a motor cycle, for a treat he would take Gwyn on the back of it to for sunday lunch to Gwyn's aunt who lived twelve miles away in Newport. The first time dad was offered a ride on the machine, Tudor opened up the throttle, accelerated briskly away and left dad in the dirt behind him!
Tudor and Jane remained firm and very close friends of my parents. I have a very early memory of you all visiting us in Denbigh, Wales during the early 1970s. I remain appreciative of the wonderful hospitality that you extended to me when I was invited to spend a wonderful fortnight with you all in the summer of 1983. Cycling arond Calgary, sailing in your Laser, your cosy cabin amongst the trees at Canmore, Sulfur Mountain, paddling across Twojack Lake, 'tubing' on the Bow River. Tudor arranged for me to ride with paramedics on a saturday night, a time when most emergencies were expected.
Our parents are sadly no longer with us, but there remains a very warm welcome to you all in Wales, whenever you should decide to visit.
