I arrived at Unitarian house in 1985 when Bob was giving his all to keep the place going. He was amazing preparing the newsletter, the order of service, playing the piano, leading many services and on and on. I am so grateful for his vision and dedication. How the congregation has flourished since then. We have grown to a critical mass and embraced excellent professional leadership but the effort from Bob in those many years is what kept the place alive.
For some reason I remember a particular day with great fondness when he led us in singing "I love to go a wandering along a mountain trail" The piano was out of key and the song unrelated to the service as far as i could tell but Bob had us all up and singing ...and more power to him. It still makes me smile.

I was privileged to work with Bob in UW's Information services. He was a true gentleman, an excellent newsman and great guy. He was instrumental in telling the UW story in its first 25 years. A champion in his youth, he played a mean game of squash too right into his 70s. I remember him with great admiration, respect and fondness.
