Obituary of Ponmany Selvarasa

Ponmany Selvarasa went to be with the Lord Jesus, surrounded by the love of family, at the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on September 27, 2017 at the blessed age of 87.

Beloved wife of the late Mr. Sangarapillai Selvarasa (Chief Station Master, Madawachchiya, Sri Lanka).

Loving daughter of the late Mr. N. A. Thambirajah and late Mrs. Emily Rasammah Thambirajah and daughter-in-law of the late Mr. M. S. Sangarapillai and late Thangam Sangarapillai.

Dedicated mother (mother-in-law) of Medona Savitri (Ratnarajah), Samuel Selvendran Selvarasa (Dhanwatie), Anne Nalayini (Mohan Pushparajah), Raveendran Selvarasa, Ponita Subadra (Prof. Samuel Asokanthan) and the late Maheswary [foster daughter] (Thiagarajah).

Cherished sister (sister-in-law) of Grace Thavamany (late Suppiramaniam), late Suntherarasa (late Rajeswary), late Manoranjithamalar (late Arulpragasam), Dr. Singaraja (Nesammah), Thurairajah, Ratnarajah (Lohini), Ariagunarajah (Ratnambal) and Christabelle (late Bala Selvanayagam).

Loving sister-in-law of the late Thangarajah, late Thangaranee (Francis), late Dr. Singarja (Sakuntala), late Ariarajah, Ariarani (Prof. Ariaratnam) and late Nesaraja (late Vimala).

Doting grandmother of Verlin (Stephanie), Victor (Menaka), Venitia, and Vijay Ratnarajah; Andrew and Daniel Selvarasa; Charles, Edwin, and Deborah Pushparajah; Joshua, Elizabeth, and Benjamin Manimaran (named after Ponmany) Asokanthan; and Sobana Thiagarajah (foster granddaughter).

She will also be fondly remembered by all her many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.K., Australia, Norway, and Sri Lanka, as well as other friends and family around the world.

Ponmany’s trust was in the Lord Jesus and she cherished the Word of God. She devoted her life to her family. Her greatest joys were reading the Bible, spending time with her family, and cooking delicious meals for all to enjoy.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Ponmany with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5-8 P.M.

We will be celebrating her fulfilling and wonderful life during the funeral service, which will be held at First Baptist Church, 306 Erb St. West, Waterloo, on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. Visitation at the church will be from 10:30-11:15 A.M prior to the service. A reception will be held in the church gymnasium following the service. Cremation to take place at a later date.

We are so thankful to everyone who loved and cared for Ponmany during her life. We know we will see her again, in glorious perfection, when we enter the gates of heaven someday. And together we will praise our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for all eternity.
