Annie Clemmer

Obituary of Annie Minnie Clemmer

Annie Clemmer (nee Koehle) passed away peacefully with family at her side shortly after enjoying her 100th birthday celebration.

Annie was predeceased by her husband Nathan (1964), 3 babies (1945,1946 & 1948) her parents and all 8 of her siblings. Dear Mother to Shirley Dueck and Dianne (Klaus) Borch.  Grandmother to Jim (Donna), Cheri, Nicole, Nadine (Philip) and Jason.  Great Grandmother to William, Cass and Brooklyn.

Annie is remembered by her family for her love of travel, nature and gardening.  She grew a small citrus orchard from seeds at her winter home in Florida where she wintered for about 50 years. Annie and Nathan had a hobby farm, Sunset Gardens, in Waterloo.  For many summers the family nurtured their market garden produce, selling mainly strawberries and raspberries. Before it was fashionable Mom lived “green” always practicing the 3 R’s, reduce, reuse and recycle. She also enjoyed many years of cottaging at Red Bay, on the Bruce Peninsula, and travelling throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.

Mom was born and lived all her life in Waterloo.  In her early senior years she enjoyed playing Solo and Euchre as well as singing with the choir at local Senior Centres.

Special thanks to the compassionate, caring and supportive staff at Trinity Care Centre, especially on the 3rd floor, Walnut Grove.  We also appreciated the loving care provided by Bernadette, Viola and Geneveve. With courage and unimaginable strength Mom dealt with an essential tremor for close to 1/3rd of her life.  At her request her body has been donated to science at the University of Waterloo.

Rest in peace Mom.
