Obituary of Eleanor Jane Brubaker
Passed away peacefully at The Village of Winston Park, Kitchener on Monday November 20, 2017, age 93.
Beloved wife of the late Ed Brubaker (2004). Loving mother to Thomas Garner, and Jane Garner; step-mother to John Brubaker, Nancy Brubaker, Janet Perkins, Mary Brubaker-Zehr, Sandi Brubaker and Christine Brubaker. Will be fondly remembered by her 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her brothers Mortimer Dymond, Colin Dymond, and her first husband Fred Garner.
Survived by her sisters-in-law Janet Dymond and Joyce Brubaker.
Eleanor was a longtime member of First United Church, Waterloo and a volunteer with the United Church Women’s Group. Eleanor was a natural leader and this was evident in many areas throughout her life. She was a long-time member of the Canadian Federation of University Women KW Chapter: past president from 1967 – 1969; active with Arts I & II; and the Monday night book group. For many years she was also a very active participant and leader with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra Women’s Committee (now known as the KWSO Volunteer Committee).
Friends are invited to share their memories of Eleanor with her family during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday November 24, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First United Church, 16 William St. W., Waterloo, with Rev. Kellie McComb officiating. Reception in Hilliard Hall immediately after the service, followed by the interment of her cremated remains at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
