It is with broken hearts we share the passing of Marilyn Kilbey on Thursday, February 15, 2024 in her 87th year. Marilyn passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo.

Loving wife of 67 years to Leonard Kilbey, and loved mother of Cheryl Craig (Jeff) and Christine Dawe (Jim). Grandma to Andy (Kara), Amy (Mark), Danielle, and Joshua (Amy). Great-grandma to Victoria, Scarlett, Makenzie, and Veronica. Dear sister-in-law to Carol Bretz. Marilyn will also be missed by her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Rhea and Gordon Bretz, sister Lorene Shantz (Ken Shantz), and brothers Lloyd and Elmon Bretz (Ann Bretz).

Marilyn was a caring, outgoing, and family-oriented person. She worked at Zehrs for 30 years and was a long-time member and volunteer at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed many hobbies, including bowling, flower arranging, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, biking, scrapbooking, travelling, and spending time on the family boat. Above all, Marilyn loved to be with her family. She especially loved the holidays, pancake breakfasts on Sunday mornings after church, and playing with her grandchildren around the swimming pool.

Special thanks to the staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home’s Bauman Homestead Neighbourhood, who went above and beyond in their care for Marilyn.
