Obituary of Maureen Kathryn Fitzgerald (nee Webb)

Maureen passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024 after a very long illness at the age of 85. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, daughter of the late Leslie and Muriel Webb (nee Millson) and loving wife of almost 50 years of the late Tom Fitzgerald. Maureen
was a wonderful mother to Linda, Jeff (Stephanie) and recently departed Susan.

Maureen trained as a registered nurse at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children graduating in 1961 and married Tom that fall. Her nursing friends would get together every year and have been an active part of her extended family. Following in Tom’s footsteps, Maureen returned
to work at the University of Waterloo at the School of Optometry working her way up to a management position. She retired from Waterloo to join Tom on trips around the world, owning several cottages and golfing at Westmount Golf and Country Club. 

We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Extendicare Columbia Forest in Waterloo who provided recreation programming, daily support and most recently the care in the last week. Your environment provided a wonderful home for Maureen for the last five years.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date and we will notify family and friends once details have been confirmed. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation would be greatly appreciated to either Sickkids or Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services.
