Donald Croft

Obituary of Donald Croft

Don passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Winston Park Village in Kitchener. He was the cherished husband of 68 years to Jean who passed away in 2009 and beloved father of Barrie and his partner Wilma. Don was the proud grandfather of Warren and wife Lisa, Melanie and husband Jeremy and step-grandfather to Roberta and husband Paul, Jeff and wife Alison. He was beloved brother of Jay and brother-in-law Stan. He was great-grandfather to Emma and Madeleine and step-great-grandfather to Taylor, Kyle, Michael, Olivia, Matthew, Cameron and Rachael. Don will be missed by nieces Sue Matthews, Pat Pfrimmer, Kathie Moran and their families and nephews Don Jones, John Adams, John Talbot and their families. He will also be greatly missed by many great nieces and nephews. Don will also be missed by his dear friend Janice whose friendship and assistance was a great comfort to him. Don was in the RCAF during the Second World War and spent his working life with the CNR railroad first as a driver and later as a traffic manager. Jean & Don moved around to many areas in SouthWestern, Ont & Northern, Ont. They indeed had a very full life. At one time, they owned a house, a cottage & a home in Florida at the same time. They were told they were crazy, but they sure had fun. Don & Jean did a lot for their community - helping with Meals on Wheels, Lions Club, working with the church projects & always willing to give a hand to those who needed it. Don will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would also like to express our appreciation of the help and caring of the staff at The Villages of Winston Park and CCAC. Honoring Don's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Don with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, August 20 2012, from 1 to 2 pm. The memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2 pm. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a reception and a time to visit. Interment will take place at a later date in Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Condolences for the family and in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church or the Cancer Society may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
