Franz Kaudewitz

Obituary of Franz Kaudewitz

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our parents Franz and Ursula Kaudewitz. Our father Franz, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2012, and our mother Ursula succumbed in peace two days following, August 27, 2012. Surrounded by family and friends, Ursula battled valiantly her illness and was provided every comfort. Franz and Ursula were married for 67 years and are survived by their daughter Gabriele Habsch (Walter), and two sons Christian (Micki) and Peter. They will be dearly missed by the Habsch grandchildren Richard (Alisha), Karen (Peter), Paul (Cathy), and the Kaudewitz grandchildren Graeme (Chrystal), Erik, Ian, Celeste, James and Louane. They will be lovingly missed by 10 great-grandchildren, and many close family friends. Franz was born December 1, 1923 in Tschirna/Breslau, Germany. Ursula was born November 5, 1925 in Breslau. During the war they were displaced from their home and resettled in Bad Aibling. As a small family, they immigrated to Canada in 1957 to find a permanent home in Kitchener. As a specialist Mercedes Benz mechanic, Franz owned and operated Star BP Service Garage in the sixties, followed by General Vending until his retirement. Franz and Ursula were longtime active members of the Concordia Club where Ursula sang in the choir for more than 40 years. They were also involved in the Dance Group and had a campsite at the Concordia Farm. Ursula took great pride in her singing and continued to sing with the St. Mary's German Choir. Franz and Ursula traveled extensively and hosted many frequent visits from friends and relatives from Germany. With close loving family, Franz and Ursula enjoyed many special occasions and time together. Their presence, love and support will be sadly missed while their memories will be cherished forever. During our mother's illness, we greatly appreciate the help and support of Group 6 of the CCAC and Dr. D. Ward for their care and compassion. Franz and Ursula's family will receive friends and relatives at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, August 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Their funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. with a reception following in the Fireside Reception Room. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, and in recognition for their love and caring for family pets and stray animals, a donation would be appreciated to the KW Humane Society in their honour, or to a charity of your choice. Donations may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
