Obituary of Joan Boyer

Boyer, Joan Reola (nee Davidson) - Passed away at the Grand River Hospital, Waterloo on Nov 11, 2012 at the age of 84. Joan was born in Brantford, Ontario, daughter of the late Wilfred Davidson (Toronto, Ontario) and the late Mary Lee (Burch) Davidson (Peublo, Colorado). Beloved wife of the late Robert ("Bob") Boyer, Joan will be missed by her sister Emmalee Hopkins of Halifax, brother-in-law Jack McKnight of New Liskeard and sister-in-law Norrie Boyer of Vancouver. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Betty McKnight and brother-in-law Harold (Bud) Boyer. Dearly remembered by nieces and nephews, Heather Kilby (Mark) of Halifax, Mary Anne Hopkins (Scott) of Halifax, Scott McKnight (Kelly) of New Liskeard, Patti McKnight (Steve) of New Liskeard, Greg McKnight (Karen) of Toronto, Fraser Boyer of Vancouver, Sarah Messenger (Rob) of Toronto, Margaret Gray (Andy) of Vancouver; and great nieces and nephews Drew, Kyle, Chelsie, Cole, Larissa, Alison, Carter, Jessica, Kelsey, Zac, Josh, Dallas, Christie, Courtney and Jonny. Joan worked with External Affairs for the Federal Government in the early years and had posts in Ottawa, Paris, France and Montevideo, Uruguay. She worked for several years as the Department Secretary for the Political Science Department, University of Waterloo until her retirement. Joan and Bob were long time members of the First United Church in Waterloo. Joan enjoyed playing golf with Bob, friends and family; playing bridge with her group; and travelling with Bob and friends over the years. Joan loved the company of her cat Percy. Joan's quick wit and wonderful sense of humour and style will surely be missed. The service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday Nov 19th at 12:30pm with Rev. Dr. Bill Steadman officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
