W.E. Curry

Obituary of W.E. Curry

Peacefully, at Luther Village Sunshine Centre, Waterloo on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. I make this notice with a sense of gratitude and thankfulness for the ninety eight and a half years allotted to me. I have been blessed with 64 years of marriage to a wonderfully supportive wife, Margaret (Gray) deceased in 2006; daughter, Susan Elizabeth and son, G. Ross, both of whom provided me with few dull moments as they developed their own unique capabilities and are strong supporters during these last several years. For seven years, the enjoyment of my daughter-in-law Annie, nephew Adnan, and niece Desiree and husband George has been much appreciated. I am predeceased by my older brother, George Curry and my older sisters, Margaret McLeod and Joan Howell. Stimulating associations and friendships have followed me along the way - Hodges farm, Woodstock; Camp Layolami, Sundridge; Victoria University and Hart House Debates, Toronto; Cameron Highlanders Regiment of Winnipeg and Hudson's Bay Co., Winnipeg, Manitoba; C.I.L., Montreal; Electrohome, Kitchener; W.J. Gage Ltd. and Indusmin Board, Toronto; Decimus Investment Group, Wilfred Laurier University Business Dept., Waterloo Metal Stampings, Hallman Music Company, Waterloo; First United Church Waterloo, whose 60 year relationship included 10 years with great young people; the Brian Cliff Group, Don Mills; the New Year's Gang parties; the Voelker family connection; the Bordman - Bacon families connection; the Wagner, Magee, Boyer and Hahn 60 year friendship; the Woodstock relatives visits and annual Curry reunions; Forest Brook Farm, Wilders Lake Road, Varney, Ontario - 35 year enjoyment and the hard working, wonderful young people who told me what to do each summer and finally, a stimulating assortment of close relatives - all part of a happy mosaic for Marg and me. Luther Village Sunshine Centre has provided me with a caring and happy sunset experience. I enjoyed so many coffee parties with younger and older participants during which we solved the world's problems. Please join my family and friends (sadly reduced in number) in celebrating the exciting and rewarding years with all of you at a memorial service at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. A gathering and reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, if desired, may be made to First United Church Seniors Taxi Fund, First United Church Out of the Cold Program, or a charity of your choice by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
