Obituary of Ruth Wahl

Wahl (Hymmen), Ruth Amelia Ruth Wahl passed away peacefully on February 17, 2013 at the Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre in Waterloo, Ontario. She was in her 96th year. Ruth was born in Toronto on May 22, 1917 to the late Charles and Millie Iredale. Ruth Wahl was an long-standing and active member of Trinity United Church, Kitchener having served as an elder, choir member, President of the Mr. & Mrs. Club, and Chair of the Visiting Committee of the UCW. Ruth was also a long-time member of the YWCA, of Club 84 and was a former board member. She was active for many years as a Community Concert worker and board member, was a member of the K-W Symphony Women's Committee and of its executive, was past president of the Liberal Parliamentary Wives Association, Ottawa, and was a long-time member of the Concordia Club and of their mixed choir. She is survived by her son, Ward Hymmen and his wife Therese of Kitchener; her daughter, Lorna Evans and her husband, Keith of Oakville. Also survived by grandchildren Paula (Chris) Hicknell, Jessica (Chris) Eulenberg, Peter (Nicole) Hymmen and John Hymmen (Serenity Robertson); Sarah (Paul) Corr and Sean Evans; great grandchildren Casey, Abbie, Maggie, Emily Hymmen, Rebecca, Emily Evans, Max, Willow, and Benjamin. She is also survived by John (Barbara) Wahl, Elizabeth (Phil) LePage, their children and grandchildren. Ruth Wahl is predeceased by her first husband of 38 years, Kieth Hymmen and her second husband of 27 years, Karl Wahl; her daughter, Heather Hymmen, her sisters Alice Blake and Dorothy Iredale and her brother Donald Iredale. Special thanks to the loving and dedicated staff at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre who cared for her during the last years of her life. Friends are invited to share their memories of Ruth with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday February 22 7- 9 p.m. and on Saturday, February 23 10- 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. Rev. Jack Paleczny officiating. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
