Obituary of Frederick Roth

Formerly of Kitchener and the Village of Winston Park, Fred passed away peacefully in his sleep at Nithview Long Term Care in New Hamburg on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the age of 92. Fred was born in Wellesley on May 26, 1920 and resided in Kitchener for most of his life. He was a son of the late Henry and Mary (nee Pfanner) Roth. Fred had managed the Glidden Paint Store on King St. E. in Kitchener for many years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kitchener and enjoyed lawn bowling and curling. Fred was predeceased by his wife, Irene Roth (nee Sill) in 1993 and his special close friend Muriel Barrieau in 2009. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Clayton Roth and wife Irene of Toronto, Arthur Roth and wife Gertrude of Barrie, Harry (Dick) Roth and wife Edith of Toronto, Walter Roth and wife Irene of New Hamburg, Doris Wettlaufer and husband Herbert of Kitchener, Margaret (Peggy) Lichty and husband Reuben of Elmira, and Lloyd Roth, killed overseas in August, 1944. Fred is survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Fred during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 10 - 10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home's Historic Kuntz House. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
