Obituary of Doris Gutoski

GUTOSKI/KARAI, Doris Carolyn (neѐ Kuntz) passed away at Freeport Hospital on April 19, 2013 in her 80th year. Doris met the challenges of Parkinson's disease with unwavering strength and determination right to the end. It is with heavy hearts that we announce her peaceful passing with her family by her side. She will always be lovingly remembered by her children, John Karai (Sharon), Martha Ciuciura (Jan), Carol Johnston (Kerry), Robert Karai (Donna) and Anne Kinzie (Brad). Grandmother to Matt, Kerri and David Lantz, Joe and Meagan Karai, Connor and Molly Johnston and Andrew and Erin Kinzie. Much loved sister to Mary Karn, Anne Germann, Sandra Beingessner (Jim) and Louie Kuntz (Diana) and sister-in-law to Dolores Finnegan, Mary Kuntz and Karin Kuntz. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by husbands, Joseph Karai (1993) and Jerome Gutoski (2007), parents Oscar and Martha Kuntz, grandson Michael Karai, brothers David, Robert and Paul Kuntz and brother-in-laws Jack Karn, Robert Germann and Steve Karai and sister-in-law Margaret Karai. Doris was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1933 and immigrated with her family to Kitchener in 1948. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1951 and immediately started working as a bookkeeper for the family business, Kuntz Electroplating Ltd, before marrying the first time in 1954. She enjoyed golf and was always a strong "D" flight contender! She was an excellent cook and learned to re-create many Hungarian recipes passed down from her mother-in-law. Doris found love again and married for the second time in 2000. In her later years she enjoyed her social membership at Westmount Golf and Country Club going to Friday night dinners with her closest supporters. Friends are invited to share their memories of Doris with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m..
