Valerie-Anne Legate

Obituary of Valerie-Anne Legate

At the end of a genuinely remarkable journey, Valerie left this world precisely as she had envisioned - with a silent smile, a happy tear, and with God and family near. Valerie-Anne was the beautiful first-born daughter of William Spence (Bill) and Jeanette Greig, sister to Louise (Lou) and Kevin Wright, Derrick Greig (Valentina), Marissa (Greg) Brown, and Martin Greig. Married to Jim, and a very proud mum to Michael (Tracy), Vanessa (Steve), Viona (Mike), Robert, and Jimmy. She will be missed by all nine of her dearest wee grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin, Ethan, Nolan, Brandon, Gracie-Mae, Issaiah and Bentley, and all her aunts, uncles and cousins in Scotland, England and here in Canada. The last months of Valerie's life were extraordinary. Her incontrovertible strength and unwavering passion was simply a sight to behold. Valerie was delightful. She was jovial, comical, honest, positive, and asked for little. There was a quiet innocence to her soul. We believe we are blessed to have been such an integral part of her high-spirited life. Valerie's family will receive friends and relatives from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, 519-745-8445. Parish Prayers will be offered at 8:45 p.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Aloysius RC Church, 11 Traynor Ave., Kitchener on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Vijay Martin as Celebrant. Valerie will be cremated and interred at Woodland Cemetery, on a bright and beautiful Spring day, where she will rest in peace with her Gran, Mary O'Neill. As your expression of sympathy, it was Valerie's wish that donations kindly be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society (information available at the funeral home or online www.erbgood.com). For this, our family thanks you. Thank you to Hamilton General and Dr. Murty, Kitchener-Waterloo Cancer Centre and Drs. Molckovsky, Gopaul, Jakda, Ward, Than, CCAC, and all the volunteers. Believe us when we say, you helped make our dear Valerie's final months so much better. To our Lisaard House Angels, you have our sincerest gratitude. What you do each day is truly God's work. Valerie left this world content and at peace. God speed, my darling Valerie. We shall miss you dearly, our hearts will remember you always.
