Obituary of Lloyd Metzger

Passed away of natural causes at Pinehaven Nursing Home, Waterloo on Friday, May 17, 2013. Predeceased by his wife Mary Ann (nee Gingrich) in 2004. Loving father to Bruce and Camille Metzger, Jim and Susan Metzger, Sharon and Bruce Snyder, Ross Metzger, Brian Metzger, and Myrna Metzger and John Anderson. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jamie, Megan, Benjamin, Kirk, Kyle and great-grandchildren, Abby, Leah and Heidi. Lloyd is survived by two brothers, Moses (Adeline) Metzger and John (Anna) Metzger and three sisters-in-law, Fern Metzger, Dorothy (Stan) Foell and Doris Metzger. Predeceased by his parents, Moses and Priscilla (nee Brubacher) Metzger and three brothers, Harold, Albert and Martin Metzger. Lloyd farmed north of Waterloo from 1950-1970. After moving from the farm, he held farm-related sales positions. He delivered rural mail for several years before taking a custodial job with the Waterloo Region District School Board, where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Lloyd during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, May 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bruce Sweet from Emmanuel United Church, Waterloo officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room with interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau after the reception.
