Obituary of Henricus Rubie

After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Henk passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the K-W Grand River Hospital at the age of 81 years. Loving husband of Tonnie (Antonia) Rubie for 55 years and beloved father of Diana Barber (Brent), Gary (Natalie), and Frank (Angela). Cherished grandfather of Ashley Gould (Todd), Emily and Olivia Barber, Kirstyn, Nicole, Payton and Candice Rubie and great-grandfather of Ella Gould. Dear brother of Jan (Annie) and Mariane DeBruin (Frans) of the Netherlands and Annie Tilmans (Matt) of Kitchener. Henk is predeceased by parents Gerard and Miet Rubie. After marrying the love of his life in 1959, Henk immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands. For 30 years Henk worked as a skilled machinist at Uniroyal Goodrich. Henk was a proud model boat builder, hobby artist, and a published author who enjoyed his family and the great outdoors. Henk was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, sibling and friend. His laugh and the twinkle in his eyes will be eternally missed. Friends are invited to share their memories of Henk with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, May 30 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi, 49 Blueridge Ave., Kitchener, on Friday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Daniel Lobsinger, C.R. as Celebrant. Interment at Memory Gardens will be followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home.
