Obituary of Emmanuel Pittson

August 17, 1937 - Halifax, NS June 8, 2013 - Oakville, ON It is with deep sadness that we announce that Emmanuel (Manny) Nicholas Pittson died peacefully on the evening of June 8, 2013 at the age of 75. Manny's career spanned almost 60 years in the television industry. Starting in high school as an announcer at CHNS Radio in Halifax, he was entrusted with turning on the Broadcast towers at Geizers Hill. Fascinated by television, he became the youngest producer in Canada at CBC Halifax, where he produced shows such as Frank's Bandstand. As the producer and director of Singalong Jubilee, he was instrumental in launching the careers of many iconic Canadian singers, and provided a showcase for what became known as "East Coast Music". He then went on to become an independent producer, and brought shows such as Don Messer's Jubilee, Ryan's Fancy, and many others to CHCH Hamilton. In later years he taught Television Production at Sheridan College in Oakville ON., where he resided for over twenty five years. He is survived by his wife, Gillian, his son, Nicholas (Tracey), his daughter, Emma (Timothy), his grandchildren, Thomas, Katherine, Veronica, James, and his sister, Irene (Barry) and his brother, Paul. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 11th, 2013 at 4p.m. at Christ the Saviour Antiochian Orthodox Church at 96 Dunbar Road South, in Waterloo, Ontario.
