Obituary of Ivan MacKnight

Ivan Walter MacKnight of Kitchener, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Golden Years Nursing Home in Cambridge, in his 89th year. Loving husband of Joan for almost 62 years. Father of Dianne Knight (Larry) of Kincardine and Lynn Scott (David) of Ayr. Cherished Grampie of Sarah, Laura, (Dan), Amanda (Jamie), Michael and Melanie. Great- grandfather of Dawn, Chase, and Alexis. Predeceased by two granddaughters in infancy. Ivan was a veteran of WWII, serving in England, Holland, Belgium, and Germany with the North Shore NB Regiment. Member of Branch 230 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Employee of Westinghouse Canada Ltd in several management roles in sales and marketing. Past member of the Rotary Club (Halifax). Past master of Campbellton Lodge #32, receiving his 60 year pin and jewel. Also a member of Moncton Lodge of Perfection (Scottish Rite). Friends and family will be received at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Julia Gill. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. In Ivan's memory, donations may be made to Saint Columba Anglican Church (Waterloo) or to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Years Nursing Home for their loving care and compassion in Ivan's last weeks.
