Obituary of Beverly Renshaw

Bev Renshaw passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his residence at Parkwood Retirement Suites, Waterloo. He was in his 99th year. Bev and his beloved wife Myrtle (nee Bailey), who died August 4 of this year, had been married for 75 wonderful years. Bev is survived by daughters Anne Shantz (Malcolm) and Frances "Bailey" Renshaw; grandchildren Christopher Shantz (Melanie), Andrew Shantz (Amy), and Kaija Siirala, and great-grandchildren William, Lauren, Elizabeth and Katherine Shantz. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his many friends and relatives. Bev was a World War 2 veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a papermaker by trade; papermaking was his passion as well as his profession. His long career eventually brought him to Trenton, Ontario, where he was employed by TVPM (Trent Valley Paper Company) as General Manager. Sailing - both summer and winter - was Bev's other life passion. He was as at home sailing around the world as he was sailing in the Bay of Quinte. He was an active member of the CFB Trenton Yacht Club and a founding member of the Port Dalhousie Yacht Club. He also was an avid ice boater, and a member of the Nooners, an ice boating club that met at 12'clock point in Trenton. Bev joined CESO (Canadian Executive Service Organization) after his retirement. He and Myrtle spent many memorable months in Thailand and China, helping companies in these countries improve their production techniques, while learning about the local customs and culture. When not traveling, Bev thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Halifax Restoration Project where he spent many happy and productive hours at CFB Trenton. The family wishes to thank the caring and supportive staff at Parkwood Suites. A special thank you to Chaplain Bev Suderman-Gladwell at Parkwood and our CCAC worker Elizabeth Goertz who have helped guide us through the last few weeks. A Memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dawn Grace Peters officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date. Condolences for the family and donations to Parkwood Suites may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
