She was known by many names: Fen, Mrs. Liu, Bo-Bo, but to us she was Popo. I'll remember her strength most of all - so surprising in a woman of her small stature. When she first moved to Canada she told stories about Sydney, walking up Portview hill from her River Road home. Greg and I were lucky enough to spend some time in Sydney and imagined walking in her footsteps - my that hill is steep! We couldn't believe that she walked up that hill on a regular basis! No wonder she was so strong. Even in these past few months, her grip on my arm was iron-clad as I helped her in and out of my car when going to Sunday dinners. Although her English seemed to fail her in these past few years, she always had a smile and a wave for Lucy and Elsa. It was a treat for them to enjoy a couple "Happy Meals" with her, as she munched her "Filet-o-Fish" sandwich. And at the end of our visits, she would blow kisses and wave, with just one single "bye!" to my girls. Bye Popo, RIP.

I thought I'd just write some words about Bobo after hearing the sad news about her passing today. Something for us all to remember her by. RIP Fen Tu Liu. She was a petite little lady with a lot of fight, strength and character. She was a power knitter, seamstress and green thumbed winter melon grower who used to tie her plants to her fence with her old pantyhose. She had a great big garden in Greenwich and she used to bribe the council nature strip mowers with a case of VB to mow her garden lawn at the same time. She was a hoarder as a result of living through some terrible wars, and a great cook of Chinese tea eggs and vermicelli concoctions that she would gift us in recycled ice cream containers after every visit. She was a coupon collector and would ask us to drive her all across Sydney to save 5c per kg on watermelon. She had a wicked laugh and a great sense of humour and somehow managed to outlive all the other grandparents despite a period of being a chain smoker. Maybe it was her ritual walk up a big hill to the station to catch a train to the city or visit the TAB to bet on the horses after studying the Form. I've heard that she kept active after she moved to Canada over 12 years ago now with even some chair aerobics at her retirement home. She passed away on a full stomach and peacefully happy. Although I hadn't seen her for over 12 years I will always remember her. Goodbye Bobo! RIP. Xmelitza

We will say a prayer for Popo....Condolences to the Liu family..... I will always have fond memories of Popo whenever we visit...playing Mahjong and drinking with her ...shouting Kampai... then flipping her cognac glass when she was done!!
