Ruth Reist

Obituary of Ruth Reist

"Hi, I am in Heaven, will I see you there? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father (Heaven), but by me". John 14:6 KJV Ruth Ann went home to be with Jesus at 2:44 am, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 67 after a 3 ½ year battle with leukemia. Her daughter Becky had the honor of being by her side as she breathed her last. She was the loving wife of Jim, mother of Becky Carroll (Reist) and her husband Rusty Carroll. She dearly loved her 3 granddaughters, Bella, Grace and Lydia. She will be greatly missed by her parents Aden and Verna Snyder and her siblings Mill and Cathy Snyder, Mark and Lorraine Snyder, Rachel (Snyder) and Bob Morouney, and Tim Snyder. Nieces are Stephanie, Elisa, Alana and nephew Matthew. Her husband's siblings were very special to her as well: Glenn and Amy Reist, and Nancy (Reist) and John Pomeroy. Nieces are Melanie, Melissa, Lynn and Sharon. Ruth Ann dearly loved her church family at First Baptist Church and served as Women's Ministry Director, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Jim and Ruth Ann were foster parents to over 40 foster kids and special needs adults since 1979. Later in their marriage they both received their masters in marriage counseling and served many couples over the years in their home office. When Ruth Ann was no longer able to serve at church due to her illness, her ministry became calling her church family on the morning of their birthday and singing to them. She sang for the last time on Sat. April 23, the day before she fell and fractured her hip. She was a beautiful woman, a true Proverbs 31 woman of character and faith. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 306 Erb St. W., Waterloo, on Saturday May 7, 2016 at 1 p.m. Immediately following the service there will be a time of refreshments and fellowship in the church's gym. Family and close friends are invited to visit the family at Jim and Ruth Ann's house following the refreshment time. Burial will already have taken place. Condolences for the family and donations for Missions at First Baptist Church may be arranged by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
