Douglas Albrecht

Obituary of Douglas Albrecht

Passed away peacefully at home in the presence of loved ones. Son of Fay Albrecht and the late John Albrecht. Survived by his sister Lori and Jim Wilson and their children Vanessa and Alex. His Children Owen and Danielle (Dede) of London. His special friend Brenda Alexander and her daughter Heather who were a big part of his life. Doug graduated from Wilfred Laurier and had just started his career with Manulife when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was forced to retire shortly after. He then spent his mornings riding his wheelchair to William's Coffee Shop where he connected with a great group of retired "old guys". He enjoyed their discussions on every imaginable topic. He moved into his own apartment where a dedicated staff of Personal Support Workers took care of his every need and whim. They loved him and spoiled him. Thank you to Ron, Liz, Paul, Christina and Veronica and Jennifer who stayed through the night these last weeks. Thank you to the Palliative Care Team who became involved with his care as his needs changed. Special thanks to Dr Keleher, Margo and Judy for their daily visits. He took pleasure in harassing them. Doug enjoyed board games and the challenge of scrabble with his workers and friends who dropped in as well as a good discussion, interspersed with his witty comments. He was truly in his element at the 50th birthday party his sister hosted for him. He was so pleased to see his many friends and extended family. Hugs to all who attended and thank you for the donations to the MS Society.
