Obituary of George Watson
George passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, June 15 at Westmount Retirement Home, Kitchener, his latest "relocation" of the many in his final 6 months.
Proud father of Sandra (Wayne) Berlet of Waterloo, Judy Watson of Barrie, Ron (Tina) Watson of Waterloo and Reg Watson of Peterborough. Predeceased by his wife Inez in 2013, parents "Andy" and Margaret Watson and brother Joseph. George will be remembered by grandchildren Joey and Kylie Watson, Paul, Brie and Thomas Mantynen and many nieces and nephews, especially Bonnie.
He was a memorable character to most he met within the community. George was a blacksmith in Ayton and went on to work at Clemmer Industries in Waterloo for more than 40 years. George was active in his many interests and loved to share about them all - old country music, writing stories or reading, woodworking, gas and steam engines, cars and car racing, trains and really just about anything mechanical in nature. George took us back to a simpler time in his recollections of the past. We will miss that link. George was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church for 64 years.
Friends are invited to share their memories of George with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue at Knox Presbyterian Church, 50 Erb St. W., Waterloo on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 12 to 12:45 p.m. with the funeral service to celebrate George's life following at 1 p.m. The interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
Condolences for the family and donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
