I am a phd candidate at the University of Montreal and I have found his book "Testing the Chains: Resistance to Slavery in the British West Indies," very helpful. Michael thank you very much for you research re- Caribbean plantation Slavery; may you rest in the peaceful embrace of the Eternal God of love. May your soul rest in peace. Fr. On behalf of the Department of History and Archaeology, UWI-Mona, I express to the family our sincere condolences on Michael's passing. Michael enjoyed many years of close relations with the department. He was by all accounts a generous scholar who gave willingly of his time as external examiner. He also offered public lectures for the department and guided several of our graduate students in their work. Colleagues who knew him well are grieving his loss. I did not know him personally but came to appreciate the rigor of his scholarship as a young historian which will long remain a model for generations of Caribbean historians.
