Obituary of Robert Dickie

Robert Dickie

1968-2010
It is with profound sadness, but also deep gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Rob Dickie peacefully at home surrounded by the love and care of family and friends.
Loving husband of Annmarie (Schultz) and exceptionally proud father of Jonathan and Kayla. Wonderful son of John and Betsy Dickie and son-in-law of Edward Schultz. Brother of Andrew Dickie and Barb MacIsaac and brother-in-law of Denny and Rose Juranovic and Rick Schultz. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews in Kitchener and many aunts, uncles and cousins in New Brunswick and the Guelph area. Specially missed by his Grandma Dickie in New Brunswick.
Rob was the proud owner, in partnership with his father John, of Dickies Fire Protection, for over 20 years servicing businesses in Waterloo Region and developing many friendships with his customers over those years.
He was an enthusiastic coach in Kitchener Minor Hockey for over 10 years at the `rep level having played minor hockey in Kitchener throughout his childhood and teenage years. He forged many lasting connections with the players he coached and their parents.
Irrespective of what else was happening in life, Thursdays were, without exception, dedicated to golfing at Foxwood in the summer and playing hockey in Elmira in the winter.
He leaves an immense hole in the hearts and lives of his many long-time friends, especially those from Silverspring Cres where Rob grew up. They will miss the barbecue/swimming/fire pit get-togethers at his house he built in Petersburg, his playful sense of humour, his fun-loving spirit and joy of life but, also his loyalty, genuine concern for others and his practical, sensible advice when it was needed. Rob was a committed member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Kitchener. Above all, Rob was the consummate family man. His ultimate satisfaction in life came from his wife and kids. His love of life, guiding values and abiding love will live on in Kayla, Jonathan and Anne.
The family invites friends to share their memories of Rob at the Erb and Good Funeral Home, 171 King St S, Waterloo on Tuesday September 7 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Wednesday September 8 from 10- 10:45am. The celebration of Robs life, officiated by Rev. Mark Gedcke, will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 248 Westmount Rd E, Kitchener on Wednesday September 8 at 11 am with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Williamsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a trust fund established to support the education of Kayla and Jonathan. Donations can be arranged at the funeral home or on-line at www.erbgood.com or by calling 519-745-8445.
