Obituary of Katharina Rempel

Katharina Rempel
In 1928, she, and members of the family, immigrated to Canada, settling first in Winnipeg, then Kitchener, where she worked as a maid. In 1937 she married Henry Rempel who soon entered the upholstery business. They were parents to Henry, Rita (Brown) and John, and grandparents to Christopher Brown, Whitney Brown and Karen Eggenschwiler. As well as being hospitable homemaker, our mother was active in the women’s association of the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church and sang in a choir which regularly visited patients at K-W Hospital. Her husband predeceased her in 1977. Five years after that she moved to Tabor Manor in St. Catharines, where she enjoyed many years of good health, finding ways to help residents less well than herself.
