<h1>Elizabeth Wallar</h1> 1926 - 2010 Elizabeth passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Saturday, September 25th, 2010 after a brief illness. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jon Wallar and his wife Dr. Sandra Kirby of Guelph, Donald Wallar and his wife Megan of Newmarket and Murray Wallar of Kitchener. Elizabeth was a proud grandmother to Lauren and Cameron; Nicholas, Robin, and Bethany; and Christopher, Koltyn, and Tiana. She was predeceased by her husband Howard R. Wallar; son Ralph Howard and daughter Mary Elizabeth; brother Jack Sutherland Hare and his wife Ray; parents Mabel (Raby) and Stanley M. Hare; and grandparents Elizabeth (Small) and Jack Raby; parents-in-law Lucille (Caseman) and Ralph C. Wallar; and brother-in-law Robert E. Wallar and his wife Barbara Schendel. Elizabeth was born in Forest, Ontario November 15th, 1926. She graduated from Wingham High School and then from Victoria Hospital, London, as a lab technician. She worked at Strathroy General Hospital as a lab and x-ray technician. While there, she met her future husband, Howard, when he was managing his first ladies wear store. They were married in London in 1948 and moved to Waterloo where they established Wallar’s Ladies Wear, the city’s first ladies wear store. They were members of the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce and Elizabeth served on the Board of the Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Association. They were active members of First United Church where Elizabeth sang in the choir for many years and served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the United Church Women. She was also an active volunteer for Grand River Hospital and the K-W Symphony as a Board member and sponsor. Elizabeth was a member of Westmount Golf &amp; Country Club. Elizabeth treasured her many social and business friends. Friends are invited to share their memories of Elizabeth with her family at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Tuesday, September 28th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held at First United Church, King and William Streets in Waterloo on Wednesday, September 29th at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Pearce officiating. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to Hilliard Hall, First United Church for refreshments and a time to visit with the family. Private interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
