Obituary of John Kockel

<h1>John Kockel</h1> 1927 – 2009 Passed away, at The Westmount, David Bergey Drive, Kitchener, on Saturday, September 19, 2009, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 82. Beloved father of Sheila and Roger, father-in-law of Tim and Christine, and grandfather of Christopher, Benjamin and Timothy James. Brother-in-law of Clive Smith of Leicester, England. John was educated in England and completed his professional training during several working assignments in Central Europe. In 1965, together with his late wife, Cynthia, he was transferred to Canada to provide technical support to Research Establishments and Industry. He worked 40 years in the Opitical Industry and in 1977 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society of Oxford, England. He retired from active work as Senior Microscopist and Research Advisor in 2001. Cremation has taken place and at John’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service has taken place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. John will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
