Obituary of Margaret Medsger

Margaret Medsger

1918 2007
Peacefully, passed away at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at age 88.
Beloved wife of the late Henry Medsger; loving mother of Robert Medsger (Karen) of Kitchener; dear grandmother of Evan, Colin, and Olivia; sister of Muriel MacIntosh.
Predeceased by two sisters, Beulah MacKenzie and Dorothy Hunter, and by brothers, James and Maynard Hunter.
Margaret cherished her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and many friends. She lived in Alberta until the 1960s and then moved to Winter Park, Florida where she was a resident until 2005. She loved her Florida home where she enjoyed gardening and entertaining (especially for Canadian relatives and friends). In Florida, she was an avid golfer, a member of the Winter Park Hospital Auxiliary, and the Red Pepper Garden Club. Margaret was famous for her lemon squares (made from the backyard lemons) which she brought to guests who stopped by for a visit on the back porch. Margaret had a special ability to be a mom to many, especially her son's out of town college friends who have fond memories of her caring and loving nature.
The Tucker, Strong, Schenck and the Prouse families of Winter Park all kept a constant watch over Margaret when she was living alone for more than 20 years. Their friendship and devotion to her was amazing. The Medsger family was blessed to have had these neighbours for so long.
Margaret had the good fortune to spend her golden years with friendly and caring caretakers in the Winter Park Towers assisted living unit in Florida and the Sunshine Centre in Waterloo. She and her family deeply appreciated the efforts of staff and volunteers who came in to provide care, include her in activities and to visit. A special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Grand River Hospital - Five North Wing for doing their best to restore Margaret to health over the last couple of weeks. Her family will miss her but we know she had a great life.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Luther Village on the Park, 139 Father David Bauer Drive, Waterloo on Saturday September 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. Condolences for the family and donations to a charity of choice may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, 519.745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
