<h1>Vernon Collins</h1> June 4, 1928 – September 16, 2010 Peacefully, after a short illness at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of Carol for 59 years. Loved father of Mike (Deb) Collins and Lynn Tokarewicz (John) and exceedingly proud Papa of Brendan, Sean, and Erin Collins as well as Jaclyn and Alexander Tokarewicz. Vern is also survived by his brother, Don. He was predeceased by his siblings Mabel, Dorothy, twins Merle and Merlin, Harmon, Marion, Ross and Helen. Vern was born in Toronto where he lived until 2007, when he and Carol moved to Leamington. He worked for more than 40 years at Colgate Palmolive. An active volunteer, he spent many years coaching and refereeing in local youth hockey leagues as well as serving as a Scout Leader. He was an unshakably loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. An avid golfer, particularly in his later years, he scored a hole-in-one on three distinct occasions. A celebration of Vern’s life will be held Sunday, September 26 from 2-4 p.m. in the Fireside Reception Room of the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo.
