1932-2009
John has left his family heartbroken with his sudden passing on Saturday, September 12, 2009, in his 77th year.
Deeply loved by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn, and children: David and Renate Foster, Jane and Chris Malleck, Joe and Jane Foster, and Leigh and John Floto. Proud grandfather to Victoria and Nichole Foster, Foster and Elyse Malleck, Shanan, Griffin and Breann Floto. Survived by his sister Gloria Mutti in California. Dearly missed by Marilyns family: Don and Louann Miller, Anne and Don Brubacher, Angela and Paul Beckner, Pat and Mike Ennis, Joe and Marjorie Miller and Liz and John Harder; and Johns nieces and nephews, godchildren, extended family and his close circle of friends.
Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Appolonia Foster, parents-in-law Hubert and Mildred Miller, and brother-in-law Ronald Mutti .
In his youth, John excelled at competitive sports. After years of service at Sutherland Schultz and J.M. Schneider, he spent many happy years in retirement devoting time to family, friends and his passion for working with those less fortunate. John was a man of faith and active in his church community, including work with St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Out of the Cold program.
Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, from 7-9 pm. and Wednesday, September 16 , 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Parish Prayers will be said Wednesday at 8:45 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis R.C. Church , 53 Allen St. East , Waterloo, on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tim Uniac CR as Celebrant and Rev. Bernie Hayes CR as Homilist. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo .
Donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Carmel of St. Joseph, St Louis St Vincent de Paul, the Down Syndrome Society or to K-W Habilitation may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
In living memory of John, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning program by the funeral home.
