<h1>Velma Reichard Armstrong</h1> 1917 – 2008 Born in Toronto August 1, 1917, where she received her education, culminating in a BA degree from Victoria College in 1938. After one year at the Ontario College of Art and two years at the Ontario College of Education, Velma worked as a commercial artist at the Toronto Star during the war. After marrying Laurant Reichard she moved to Kitchener where she accepted a teaching position at KCI. Laurant died in 1978. Her life included raising her son, Rick, part time teaching, real estate, and a 60-year involvement at Trinity United Church, where she sang in the choir. She was an active member and past president of the Trinity Mr. and Mrs. Club. Velma was also an active lifetime member of the University Women’s Club. In 1988, she married Bruce Armstrong. They enjoyed many years dividing their time between Kitchener, Haliburton, and travel. She will always be remembered and her memory cherished by her husband Bruce; his children, Derek (Cam), Nancy (Corey) and their children, Jake, Jessie, and Liam. Also by her son, Rick and his wife Helen; their children, Rebecca, Jonathan, Christian, Peri (Rob), Tara (Gord), Erin (Tony); great-grandsons, Liam and Ben; and special friend Pauline Radcliffe. The family would like to thank the staff and dedicated caregivers at Lanark Heights for making her last days as comfortable as possible. Friends are invited to share their memories of Velma with her family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Friday, September 12 from 2-4 p.m. and Saturday, September 13 from 1 –1:45 p.m. The memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2 p.m., with Rev.
