<h1>Edna Koepke</h1> 1906 – 2008 Passed away peacefully at Heritage House, St. Jacob’s on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the age of 102 years. Beloved mother of Helen Koepke of Waterloo, Elwood (Vera) of Palmerston, Wayne (Jessie) of Wasaga Beach and Wray (Claudette) of Brighton. Sadly missed by nine grandchildren; Murray, Glenn, Ronald, and Ivan Koepke, Jennifer Inthof, Jeffrey, Ian, Jocelyne and Daniel Koepke as well as her fifteen great-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by her husband George (1988) and a grandson Lyle. Also predeceased by her parents Simon and Rachel Walter and sisters Pearl Bender, Margaret Walter, Idona Krotz and brother Roy Walter. Edna was born in Wallace Township on September 27, 1906. Upon her marriage she moved to Peel Township where the couple farmed and raised their family until their retirement to Kitchener. They were members of Calvary Memorial United Church. Much of Edna’s life involved market gardening, farm chores, raising her family, church activities and sewing. Upon retirement Edna focused on her quilting skills to become a prize-winning quilter. She continued this hobby into her 101st year. Samples of her quilting were shown internationally. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Heritage House for their loving tender care. Friends are invited to share their memories of Edna with her family during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 1 - 4:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Memorial United Church, 91 Gruhn Street, Kitchener on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 2:30 pm followed by a reception for family and friends at the church. In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to the Calvary Church Memorial Fund or a charity of one’s choice may be arranged through the funeral home, 519.745.8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Edna a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
