Robert passed away, peacefully, at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre in Waterloo.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, Ritsuko; his sons, Steven and daughter-in-law Jean, Douglas and daughter-in-law Ania, and Peter and daughter-in-law Kaori; his grandchildren, Denise, Alan, Rachael, Catherine, Robert, Veronica; and his sister Mimi.
Robert came to Canada from Taiwan for his PhD studies in Chemical Engineering. He began his research career in Hawkesbury. He taught Chemical Engineering at University of Waterloo for 31 years, where he specialized in polymer membrane separation processes. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his kindness to his many graduate students.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Columbia Forest for their excellent care.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo, on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 1:00 pm to 2:45 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Cremation will have taken place. A reception will be held in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association by contacting the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Robert, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
