<h1>Douglas Merkel</h1> September 1, 1930 to October 28, 2009 Passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a very courageous struggle with cancer. Beloved husband of the late Joan Hazel (Laurence), happily married for 47 years. Lovingly remembered by his children, Joanne (Susie), Doug, Cathy, Rick, John, Rosie; grandchildren Corey, Jeremy, Jennifer, Nashira, Shannon, Ariel, Jeffrey, Brandon, Brian, Tammy, Brittany, Samantha, Jamie, and Grace; great grandchildren Dylan, Austin, Shawn, Brooklyn, Chloe, Kyla, Courtney, and Alyssa; sisters, Marjorie and Sally Jane, and brother Jim. A Memorial Service will be held at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1st, 2009 with Rev. Bruce Sweet officiating.
