Obituary of Louise Hodgson

Louise Hodgson
nee Wuergler 1931 - 2006 At K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Tuesday October 24, 2006. Loving wife of 35 years, of the late Robert Hodgson “Bob” (1987). Survived by her daughter Barbara Gilmour and her husband Clyde, and their daughter Carrie, all of Waterloo. Predeceased by her brothers Ernst Wuergler, Herman Wuergler, and Arnold Wuergler. At the family home on Erbsville Road, Dad would be working in the tree nursery or beekeeping and Mom would plant and care for the most beautiful flower gardens. We had many happy family reunions and corn roasting parties. Mom made the best apple pie ever! She was an avid bridge player, tennis player, golfer, skier and loved walking. Mom and Dad spent many happy years swimming, fishing, boating and snorkelling in the Florida Keys. Mom and Dad loved dancing and it was a joy to watch them glide across the floor together. Mom’s love of theatre and the arts began when she was hired as the secretary for the Kitchener - Waterloo Art Gallery when it was housed in the bicycle shed behind K.C.I. and eventually moved to the former church at Benton and Charles Street. Mom was a serious traveller and her journeys took her to museums, historical churches, art galleries and sites of interest throughout the world. Mom loved spoiling her only granddaughter Carrie who often accompanied her on travels and other adventures. She enjoyed watching family movies on the computer and liked helping in the kitchen. Thank-you to all her friends who appreciated my mother’s dry sense of humour, and enjoyed her company at the bridge table, on the golf course and tennis courts. Mom had a beautiful smile, a hardy laugh, gracious manner and undertook new adventures with determination and enthusiasm. We loved her and we will miss her forever. She was a wonderful lady. Arrangements are entrusted to the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo. At Louise’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. Condolences for the family and donations to the Waterloo Public Library Endowment Fund can be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Louise, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
