Passed away peacefully in her sleep at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital in the early morning hours of October 22, 2007 at the age of 93.
Margaret was born in Mattawa Ontario and spent the early years of her life in Pembroke and Parry Sound. However her heart was given to the K-W area where she spent the majority of her life. Margaret was a graduate of Kitchener Waterloo Collegiate and had a very successful career in Real Estate beginning with her employment with George Whitney Ltd. and later with Whitney & Gould. Margaret was the first female president of the Kitchener Waterloo Real Estate Board, Past President of the Carmelite Guild, a member of the St. Marys Hospital Auxillary, as well as a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Waterloo. Margaret was an enthusiastic world traveller, a long time member of Rockway Golf Club, and was fiercely loyal to a wide circle of longtime friends.
Margaret is survived by her sister Marie Boeckner of Chatham, brother Bill (Doris) Meindl of Kitchener, nieces and nephews, Thomas (Gail) Boeckner of Whitby, James (Maureen) Boeckner of Thunder Bay, Patricia Boeckner (Ian McNeil) of Toronto, Murray Meindl of Kitchener, and Philip (Cindy) Meindl of Bright, her cousin Jean (Mac) Caughey, 13 great-nieces and nephews, and one great grand niece.
Predeceased by her parents Francis and Josephine Meindl and brother-in-law Vernon Boeckner.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Margaret with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 7-9 pm. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:45 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes Street West, Waterloo on Friday, at 10:00 am with the Rev. Edward Sheridan as Celebrant.
