1931 - 2006
Passed away peacefully at the KW Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital on Sunday October 22, 2006 at the age of 74 years.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Joyce (neeJacobs), daughter Jennifer Dewar of Vancouver & Kitchener. He will also be remembered by his sisters Millicent OGrady (Peter) and Ruth Edwards (Russell) all of Cambridge as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill spent most of his childhood in Cambridge (Galt) where he attended GCI. HE graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1965 with a gold medal in Honours Economics. Prior to retiring in 1989, Bill taught at Waterloo Collegiate for 25 years in geography and guidance.
Bill served as Chairman of the Midwestern Regional Library Board in 1983 and Past President of the Waterloo County Federation of Teachers. He loved the outdoors and was an avid skier, camper, hiker and golfer and enjoyed being a member of the Hiking Vikings. In his younger days, Bill traveled much of the world and continued to enjoy travelling into his retirement.
He was an elder and long-time active member of First United Church in Waterloo.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Bill with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service to celebrate Bills life and faith will beheld at First United Church, 16 William Street West, Waterloo on Thursday October 26, 2006 at 1 pm with Rev. Rich Hawley officiating.
A reception will immediately follow the service. A private family interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Thursday afternoon.
