Obituary of Joseph Oberholzer

<h1>Joseph Oberholzer</h1> 1923 – 2009 Joe passed away, after a brief illness, at St. Mary’s General Hospital, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the age of 86. Joe is survived by his brothers, Donald Oberholzer and wife Pat, Robert Oberholzer (the late Sheila), all of Waterloo; and sister, Rosemary Hannon and husband William of Waterloo. Remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Sadly missed by Dale, Sheila, Amber, and Katie. Predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Rose (nee Dorsch) Oberholzer; brothers, Frederick C.R., Eugene (wife Kay), Francis (wife Pearl), and Vincent (wife Margaret); and sister, Bernette (husband Mark) Reitzel. Joe served overseas during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Engineers. He was a founding member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 530 Waterloo and was Honourary Chairman of the K-W Poppy Fund. A special thank you to Dale and Sheila for their wonderful care given to Joe. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Joe during visitation at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, October 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Legion Service at 7 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 8:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. A lunch and reception will follow at the Waterloo Legion, Branch 530. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the K-W Poppy Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. In living memory of Joe, a donation will be made by the funeral home to the Trees for Learning Program.
