Dorothy died peacefully at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Friday, October 19, 2007, in her 95th year.
Born July 31, 1913 in Kitchener to parents John and Annie (Wilson) Franks, Dorothy was the second youngest of seven children. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Wilfred and Roy, three sisters, Phyllis Franks, Elsie Leppan and Edna Lever. Dorothy is also predeceased by her husband Gordon Henry Steinke in 1990 and a son Douglas in infancy in 1939.
Survived by her son, Philip, her daughter Margaret and her husband Rev. George Strack, three grandchildren Peter Strack, Michael Strack and wife Jennifer, Christine Strack and five great-grandchildren Monika, Stephen, Emma, Spencer, and Emmett. Her sister Gertrude Agajanian and husband Arthur and sister-in-law of Wilhelmine Schmidt and husband Norman also survive.
Dorothy graduated from University of Western Ontario, Waterloo College with an Honours B.A. in 1935. She was a faithful member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Kitchener.
Dorothys family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo, on Monday, October 22 from 1-4 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 23 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Nancy Kelly and Rev. George Strack officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
