Of Waterloo, passed away, peacefully at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the age of 97.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Johannes John Hanje in 2009. Loving mother of Klaas (late Marion), Ebel (Lily), Ann (Alan), Henry (Lucy), Joe (Jane) and Corney (April). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Sonya, Marcel, Stephen, Michael, Neal, Kevin, John, Leia, Andrew, Amy, Johnathan, Jessica and 12 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters, Hiltje and Bartje and many nieces and nephews.
Katie came with her family to Canada in 1956 from Drachten, Friesland, Netherlands. After one year in Beachburg, Ontario, the family settled in the Waterloo region.
At Katies request there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held for family and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow the service. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.

The family thanks Dr. Kennel and the staff of Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre, Eby House for taking good care of Katie.
