Obituary of F. Jean Gleed

F. Jean Gleed

Passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo on October 11, 2010 in her 93rd year. Devoted wife of the late James Jarvis Gleed for 56 years. Loving mother of Wendy Wallace (Alasdair d.2007), Susan Morton (Douglas), Peter Gleed (Doreen Corry). Proud grandmother of Elizabeth Soryal (Hany), Margaret Wallace (David Bywater), Heather Morton and Nicole Gleed. Will be sadly missed by her sisters, Margaret McRuer, Ruth Brown and Ellen Broderick (Glynn), her great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Marie Meyers.
Jean lived most of her life in North York and Toronto, where she enjoyed studies and sports at Earl Haig C.I. and secretarial work at North American Life before marriage, after which she devoted her life to her family. After returning to office work, she especially enjoyed her years at York Universitys Centre for Continuing Education where she worked full-time until retirement. Jean was a very creative person with a zest for life, a love of nature, camping and travel. She had a strong desire to be of service to her family, friends, church and community. Jean treasured her extended family and her many friends, with whom she actively kept in touch.
A special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chettimada, and the staff and volunteers of Parkwood Mennonite Home for their dedicated and compassionate care of Jean over the past three years.
