A celebration to honour the wonderful gift of Elaines life will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2006 between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo. Family, friends, colleagues, and former students are invited.
Elaine touched many people with her great heart, generosity of spirit, and delightful, unique sense of humour. Wife, mother, teacher, world-traveller and gifted pianist (RCM), Elaine began her journey in Sault Ste. Marie, eventually settling in Waterloo by way of Toronto, Montréal, Ethiopia, Kingston and Minneapolis. Elaine taught for 35 years primarily in Waterloo Region, spending most of her years at Rockway Public School and retiring from Crestview. Her husband Prof. Carl Gall taught at the University of Waterloo.
Elaine will be deeply missed by her husband Carl E. Gall; daughters Carlaine, Gwendolyn, Alison, and Suzanne; son-in-law Greg Reilly; her siblings John Mertes (Pat), Peggy Wansborough and Anne Mertes; sister-in-law Joyce Mertes; many in-laws, nieces and nephews; and best friend Maureen Griffiths. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Bernard and Celina Mertes, brothers Bernard and Bill, and sister Lorraine Owens.
She died at home, in the loving arms of her family.
