Obituary of Arthur Tunstall

Arthur Tunstall

1932 - 2009
Passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the age of 77 and after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved husband of 49 years to Patricia (Kavanagh) and beloved father to Lee-Ann. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth (Betty) and her husband Percy Criddle, and his nephew Julian Criddle. Remembered also by Alan and Trixie Tunstall and their family - Michael (Susan) , Sara (Ian) and Lindsey (Jonny, Lucy and Oliver). Arthur is predeceased by his parents Frank and Annie Tunstall (née Kitchingman), his younger brother John and his niece Zelda. Honouring Arthurs personal wishes, cremation has already taken place.
Born in Manchester, England, Arthur was never happier than being at home with his family and he held deep friendships with his many friends on both sides of the Pond. As a young man, Arthur was a keen rugby player with Sedgley Park RC, and cheered loudly, if in vain, for Manchester City. In 1960, he married Pat, his partner for life. After 17 years with Scottish Amicable, he emigrated to Canada in 1966 and spent the next 25 years with Canada Trust in Red Deer, Lethbridge and Kitchener. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and had a robust laugh but a most gentle soul. And he loved to travel and see the world, with all its novelties and international cuisine. A true Lancashire gentleman, Arthur will be missed by all who knew him.
Remembered lovingly by dear family friends Al Stuewe, Keith and Ann Strowger, Joan and Arthur Cropper, Betty and Trevor Chesworth, Florence Burley and family, and Roy and Laurie Yonkman.
The family wishes to thank the staff at CCAC, Drs. Jakda and Moolman, the community nurses of Team D and the nurses at Freeport for all the care and kindnesses shown in Arthur's final months.
Friends are invited to share in a celebration of Arthurs life with his family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 1 p.m.
