Obituary of Lisa Filiatrault

Lisa Filiatrault
1963-2006 Passed away in her home in Waterloo surrounded by love after a courageous 14 month battle with brain cancer on Friday, November 24, 2006. Lisa will be sadly missed by her husband Robert and sons Graydon, Wade and Chase. She is survived by her parents, Bill (Stoney) and Rosemary Wallace of London, sister Julie Ivanchenko and her husband Mike of Oakville and brother Bill Wallace and his wife Kasey of London. Lisa will be lovingly remembered by her extended family, Paul and Shirley Filiatrault, John and Sue Filiatrault, and Paul and Anne Filiatrault. She was a wonderful and special aunt to Lara, Tasha, Nicholas, William, Dylan, Lindsay, Shelby, Elizabeth and James. Lisa graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in 1985 followed by a Bachelor of Education also at Western in 1987. She began her 19 year teaching career that same year at Bluevale Collegiate Institute specializing in Languages and Art. Continuing her love for knowledge, she completed her Librarianship qualifications in 2001 and became a Teacher-Librarian subsequently transforming the library at Bluevale into an energetic center of learning – “a happenin’ place.” Lisa was an avid cottager enjoying every summer on her island at Oliphant on Lake Huron. Lisa revelled in the beauty and simplicity of her time there. She spent each Christmas with her family on Marco Island, Florida where she loved to walk the beach each morning, collecting shells and revitalizing herself through nature. Lisa lived her life with passion always looking to find the best in people. Her smile lit up every room she entered. She approached every situation, even the difficult ones, with a positive attitude believing that one could alter their lives by altering their attitude. Lisa was loved by all and will be missed by many. Special thanks to all of our friends, family, neighbours, hockey families, and the Staff of Bluevale Collegiate for all of their help over the past year. We are truly overwhelmed by your love and support. We also wish to thank the numerous doctors, nurses, and alternative practitioners who cared for our beloved Lisa. Your tender care was greatly appreciated through this journey.
