Passed away peacefully at the Village of Winston Park, Kitchener on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the age of 93 years.
Beloved wife of Leonard Kaster for 37 years. Loving mother of Betty and Peter Erb of Waterloo, John and Kelly Schiedel of Waterloo, Barbara and Terry Patten of Vancouver, BC, Dan and Adele Schiedel of Burlington, and her step-children Gordon and Frances Kaster of Maryhill, Don and Debbie Kaster of Shakespeare, and Richard and Anne Kaster of Pointe au Baril. Survived by her sisters-in-law Doris Perrin, Margaret Reinhart, Ilene and Ronald Huber, and her brothers-in-law, Lloyd Schiedel, Walter and Esther Kaster, Mel Pitz.
She will also be deeply missed by her 15 Grandchildren: Catharine Erb, Suzanne Erb and Douglas Funk, Bonnie Schiedel and Darren Elder, Michael Schiedel and Alexandra Magnussen, Scott Patten and Lea Elliott, Kristin Patten and Benji Kamera, Trevor Schiedel, Bryan Schiedel, Lori and Andy Robinson, Jane and Bill Gee, Kelly Campbell, Bethany Kaster, Rebecca Kaster, Jennifer Kaster, Kris and Lauren Kaster; her 10 Great-grandchildren: Leanna and Jillian Erb Funk, Caitlyn and Jeran Schiedel Magnussen, Mika and Claire Patten, Kefira Kamera, Michaelah and Shania Robinson, Jessica Campbell, and by her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, Wellington and Emma (Good) Perrin, her first husband, Earl Schiedel who died in 1962, and all of her siblings: Harvard (Lillian), Hilda (Hilton) Pride, Eva (William) Clarke, Grace (Chester) Rohr, Lloyd (Margaret), Ruby (Doug) Litwiller, and Cecil, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruby and Orie Litwiller, her sisters-in-law, Delores Schiedel and Ruth Pitz, and her brother-in-law, Harold Kaster.
Ruth was a member of Bridgeport United Church for over 65 years, where she enjoyed many friendships. Ruths family have always appreciated her quiet determination and her support and encouragement in their lives.
Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Ruth with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at the Funeral Home on Thursday, November 27 at 11:00 am with Rev. Heidi Sievert officiating. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the Funeral Home.
